Helping students

If you’re a successful person, you owe it to others to send the elevator back down. We like students. We were students once. We like their vitality and enthusiasm which ought to be nurtured and encouraged.

We help students on their courses by accepting them on unpaid work placements where we try our best to show a wide variety of our roles. Of course we get many more applications than we could possibly accept, so if we can’t help you, don’t be despondent. We’ll always try to answer questions and give advice by email and invite you for a coffee and a bit of career advice if we have the time.

In the meantime, and especially if you live outside our areas, do look at http://www.ipa.co.uk.
This is our professional association and its website contains lots of helpful advice for graduates, current vacancies and a list of all the serious players in the advertising and marketing profession to write to.

Do take care over your CV. Three out of ten of the ones we receive contain spelling errors. Another four out of ten have clearly been written as a wide ranging circular. Two out of ten are matter of fact robotic information. But we don’t want a robot. We want a creative person. So make your personality shine through. Make us like you and we’ll see you even if we have no vacancy at the moment. So tell us what makes you a really interesting, ambitious and enthusiastic person who would fit in well with our team.

This is a great profession to work in. Be patient, persevere and you’ll make it too.
